Ethical statement

This journal follows, approves and supports the International Mathematical Union’s Best Current Practices for Journals (2010), the European Mathematical Society Ethics Committee - Code of Practice (2012), and Guidelines set by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

Responsibilities of editors

  • All papers submitted for publication should receive equal and fair treatment regardless of the authors’ gender, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, ethnic or geographical origin.
  • After submission, the paper is assigned to a member of the editorial board for further handling, so-called handling editor.
  • All submitted papers should undergo single-blind peer review by one referee and receive feedback from them, whether positive or negative. The handling editor choses the referee.
  • Editors should respect the privacy of the authors and referees during the manuscript evaluation period.
  • He/she should manage any revisions, enhancements, or other forms of the work. He/she should also communicate with the authors and referees confidentially about the work in progress. The information provided by the authors should not be disclosed and should only be used for matters related to the paper under consideration.
  • Make a recommendation to the Editor-in-chief for accepting (rejecting) the paper based on the referees’ reports that are based on the paper’s merits and not on any other criteria, and on his/her professional judgment.
  • To make the decision for a reviewed paper based solely on the scientific quality of the manuscript.
  • To establish clear guidelines for referees regarding their ethical conduct towards the manuscript accepted for publication and ensure the quality of the material they publish.
  • To monitor the work of the referees regularly to improve their evaluation and efficiency.
  • In case of proven research misconduct by the author/authors, the publisher or editor should handle the allegations appropriately; and depending on the severity of the misconduct, the editor may suggest retracting the paper.
  • The editors and referees are ready to apologize to the authors if they have made any mistake in handling the manuscript.

Responsibilities of Referees

  • The work submitted for evaluation should receive fair and equal treatment for everyone, without any discrimination.
  • Any manuscript that involves a conflict of interest for the referee should not be evaluated by him/her. In this case, he/she should inform the editor who handles this work and suggest someone else to review it.
  • For each paper, a feedback report should be provided, whether positive or negative, as negative reports also help authors to improve their article for publication elsewhere.
  • He/she should not include his/her own citations in the reports unless they are relevant and used by the paper’s authors.
  • He/she should be able to review the whole paper and its revised version and be respectful to the author.
  • He/she should alert the editor if the same work or part of it has been published elsewhere.
  • If he/she notices that an author who has not contributed to the work is included or added later, or that an author who has provided essential results is excluded, then he/she must notify the editor of the paper under review.

Authors

  • He/she should ensure that the work submitted for publication is original and not plagiarized.
  • He/she should ensure that the paper submitted for publication has not been submitted elsewhere while it is under review by our journal.
  • If there are multiple authors, then they will provide the consent that the work has been submitted for publication with their agreement.
  • All the papers that are used in the manuscript submitted for publication should be cited and any other comments or assistance from other people should be acknowledged.
  • He/she should acknowledge in the paper the organization, society etc. that has funded or supported the work.
  • To cite his/her own work, previously published, if he/she used some parts of it.
  • The authors have the opportunity to correct their articles and the journal will publish it without hesitation. Authors can also submit clarifications related to their published papers if necessary.
